Loctite 271 - Threadlocker - 50ml

LOCTITE® 271 is a red, high-strength, low-viscosity anaerobic threadlocking adhesive designed for locking and sealing threaded metal fasteners. It cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air, creating a strong bond that helps prevent loosening, leakage and corrosion caused by heavy shock and vibration. 

LOCTITE 271 is intended for applications where a high-strength, essentially permanent threadlocking solution is required. Once cured, it can be removed when necessary by applying heat.

How LOCTITE 271 Works

LOCTITE 271 is applied to the threads before assembly. When the fastener is assembled, the adhesive becomes confined between the metal surfaces. In the absence of air, the anaerobic curing reaction begins and the liquid adhesive polymerizes, forming a strong solid bond between the threads.

This prevents unwanted movement of the fastener and also provides a sealing effect along the threaded connection.

LOCTITE 271 vs. Medium-Strength Threadlockers

LOCTITE 271 is intended for high-strength/permanent locking, whereas medium-strength threadlockers are generally selected when routine disassembly is expected. Because 271 produces a high-strength bond, removal may require localized heating after curing.
